The '''Donetsk People's Republic''' (Russian: ''Донецкая Наро́дная Респу́блика;'' '''DPR''' or '''ДНР/DNR''') was a separatist state with limited recognition, located in the [[Donbass]] region.<ref>{{gtranslate|https://nslnr.su/|Russian|Donetsk}}</ref> Despite its suggestive name like the [[Luhansk People's Republic (2014–2022)]], it was not a [[socialist state]]. It is currently a federal subject of [[Russian Federation|Russia]], having been annexed in September of 2022.

Due to the Western-supported [[Euromaidan]], a [[colour revolution]] that led to the rise of [[fascism]] in [[Ukraine]], Russian and other ethnic minorities have been persecuted, resulting in the separation of [[Crimea]], and its subsequent unification with [[Russian Federation|Russia]], as well as the founding of the [[Luhansk People's Republic]] and the Donetsk People's Republic in the [[Donbass]] region in early 2014.
