Parubiy played a key role in the [[Orange Revolution]] and [[2014 Ukrainian coup d'etat|Euromaidan]] colour revolutions and, following the success of the latter, he briefly served as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine in 2014.<br />

Parubiy was assassinated in August 2025 by Mikhail Stselnikov in retaliation for his son's death in the [[2022 Russo-Ukrainian conflict|Russo-Ukrainian War]], who enlisted after being influenced by neo-Nazi figures such as Parubiy.
