Edward 'Liger' Smith is a Statesian "patriotic socialist" and an "Institute co-director" at Midwestern Marx.[1] He made the absurd claim that the Bolsheviks were "reaching out" to members of the Black Hundreds,[2] a far-right monarchist group in the Russian Empire.
Positions
Smith has been increasingly tailing the reactionary segment of the Statesian population. On December 20th, 2023, he published a post on his Twitter account adopting the idea that Donald Trump was being unjustly affected by "...lawfare being used to manipulate elections"[3] following the 2021 United States Capitol insurrection.
In the tweet, he dismisses critics (including Marxists) as "living in a liberal echo chamber", but doesn't go against MAGA supporters for their conservative echo chamber. He further adds that:

Despite that Marxists are well aware that elections in a bourgeois dictatorship only exist to benefit the bourgeoisie.
