Zambia was crucial for harboring ZANU and ZAPU revolutionaries during the Rhodesian Bush War. Zambia's Cold War legacy was mixed; though its government did cordial relations with the West and Commonwealth of Nations, its foreign policy was often opposed to the West; it even launced a space program in order to expand its influence, though Edward Makuka Nkoloso didn't seem take the project completely seriously, and created the program moreso to boost national pride. Moreover, Zambia aggresively opposed the reactionary and nepotist state of Zaire, and was accused by the Zaireans of harboring the FLNC, a Katangese left-wing opposition group. Zambia also provided diplomatic support to the MPLA against the US-backed and reactionary UNITA. | |||

Zambia, officially the Republic of Zambia, is a country in Southern Africa bordered by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Angola, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, and Tanzania.
History
Zambia was colonized by the British and gained its independence in 1964, becoming a non-aligned country.[1]
AFRICOM
In 2012, former U.S. president George Bush visited Zambia to promote U.S. imperialism.[2]
In April 2022, the U.S. government announced that AFRICOM would open an office in Zambia. Emmanuel Zambawa, Zambia’s former representative for the African Union, tried to block U.S. expansion into Zambia[1]
