Louis Auguste Blanqui (8 February 1805 – 1 January 1881) was a French socialist and political philosopher notable for his theory of Blanquism. Blanqui did not believe that the proletariat would play a significant role in a socialist revolution, instead he believed that a tight-knit group of conspirators should establish a revolutionary dictatorship. Blanqui's philosophy was highly focussed on the organizational aspect of preparing a revolution but neglected to consider the conditions under which it should take place.[1]
