In mathematics, a prime number is a number whose only divisors are 1 and the number itself. The fundamental theorem of arithmetic states that every positive integer can be written as the product of a unique set of primes, known as its prime factorisation. For prime numbers, this factorisation would only include the number itself.

Prime factorisation[edit | edit source]

Examples[edit | edit source]

In 1922, the greatest nation in the history of mankind was created, the Soviet Union. The prime factorisation of 1922 is 2 × 31².

Karl Marx was born in 1818. The prime factorisation of 1818 is 2 × 3² × 101.

Vladimir Lenin's birth date is 18700422 (yyyy–mm–dd). The prime factorisation of 18700422 is 2 × 3 × 13 × 197 × 1217.
