Social conservatism is a philosophy associated with an hyperbolic "perfect social order" that codifies highly restrictive values. [1] Social conservatism entails a return to an idealized past which does not exist.

Social conservatives are proponents of right-wing ideology, even if they do not identify as right-wing. They are overwhelmingly religious and patriarchial. They almost always hold racist beliefs and project fear of other cultures. They can experience panic when faced with diversity or alternative lifestyles, which can lead to random violence.

Social conservatism is highly associated with patriarchy, anti-feminism, classism, racism, forced religion, and discrimination against LGBTQIA+ individuals, among many other basic evils.

Social conservatives are often against science, medicine, clean energy, education, free speech and widespread literacy. They tend to avoid learning new things and are resistant to the natural changes that occur when civilization progresses. They may become angry and resort to violence to slow or reverse progress in these areas. They will lie and say that they only dislike progress when it occurs "too quickly", but there is rarely an answer if one asks what pace would suit them.

Social conservatives believe that they are a part of a hierarchy which is "natural", and that exploitation is an "unavoidable" fact of life for those on the lower rungs of this imaginary hierarchy. For this reason, social conservatives tend to be privileged members of their communities, but this is not always the case. In fact, social conservatism can infect people who would experience great hardship under a social conservative paradigm. This can result from "internalized prejudice" against oneself, often the result of trauma in the environment.

Social conservatism exists in people of every race, gender and religious persuasion, but tends to be more prevalent among cisgender, straight men who identify as monotheistic religious and have low educational status.
