The AN602, more commonly known as the Tsar Bomba, was the most powerful nuclear weapon ever constructed and detonated. Constructed by the Soviet Union, it was tested on 30th October 1961 in an aerial explosion on the island of Novaya Zemlaya in the far north. The bomb yielded approximately 50 megatons of TNT, though its initial prototype was designed to yield 100 megatons of TNT.[1]
