Black Ship Turmoil

From ProleWiki, the proletarian encyclopedia

The Black Ship Turmoil (Japanese: 黒船来航 くろふねらいこう) was an event in 1853 in which U.S. warships forced their way into Japanese ports and began the Westernization of Japan. It is also sometimes referred to as the Perry Expedition as the expedition was led by Matthew C. Perry.[1]
