The Socialist Party of Chile (Spanish: Partido Socialista de Chile, PS) is one of the major political parties of Chile. Historically the PS was the party of Marxist president Salvador Allende who ruled from 1970 until he was overthrown by Augusto Pinochet in the 1973 coup d'état. The party re-emerged after the end of the dictatorship and held the presidency from 2000 to 2010 and from 2014 to 2018 under Ricardo Lagos and Michelle Bachelet, but the party had by that time abandoned any political radicalism.
