Orbán Viktor Mihály (born 31 May 1963) is a Hungarian politician and lawyer who served as the 56th prime minister of Hungary from 1998 to 2002 and again from 2010 to 2026. Orbán was Hungary's longest-serving prime minister and was an influential figure in post-Cold War Hungary. He was also a co-founder of the far-right Fidesz political party and has led the party since 2003, and previously from 1993 to 2000.

Orbán is highly critical of the EU and NATO, especially in regards to its policies towards Russia; he correctly identified that the war in Ukraine was the result of EU and NATO enlargement and opposed sending support to Ukraine. Despite his criticism, Orbán had no desire to leave the organizations and sought to gain the benefits of imperialism, such as EU funding, without having to abide by the policies of the west. Orbán was also in contention with the west over his conservative Christian values which resulted in repression of minorities, and he regularly espoused reactionary rhetoric even more islamophobic than other western leaders.[1]
