Ze'ev Jabotinsky (born Vladimir Yevgenyevich Zhabotinsky; 17 October 1880 – 3 August 1940) was a Russian Zionist who founded the Revisionist Zionism movement, the dominant far-right current of Zionism. He also founded many Revisionist Zionist organizations, including the Union of Revisionist Zionists (Hatzohar), New Zionist Organization, Betar youth movement, and paramilitary Irgun.
Jabotinsky's ideology was shaped during his years in Fascist Italy, and Revisionist Zionism was directly inspired by Benito Mussolini and the Italian fascist movement. Mussolini himself expressed support for Zionism and Jabotinsky, and provided support for Jabotinsky's Betar youth movement, with relations only souring when Mussolini aligned with Adolf Hitler and embraced antisemitism in 1936.[1]
